Hello There!!!
------------------------------------------------------------
Well if we really wanted to boil down how 2016 ended and 2017 began, I would say it would be with the performance of Mariah Carey in New York City on New Year's Eve. It was an event that came and went like so many memes, knock knock jokes, and reality stars, and yet, I truly feel in my musician's soul that this event will be the tipping point for a new wave of music. And we're due. It's no wonder that so many of our favorite rock stars are passing away... they're getting old. We all are. And while some readers out there are negative Nancies (no offense Nancy) who feel that you can't find good music anymore, that everything is overproduced, and that rock and roll is dead, I'd like to prove you wrong!
When I stated earlier that we're due. What I meant was that we're DUE to have active listeners. It's no wonder that Mariah Carey might have been tipsy during her performance, stopped singing, heck stopped lip synching, didn't join in with dance moves, didn't find it necessary to CARE. Infact, she blamed her performance on technical issues... yah.. and Ashlee Simpson had acid reflux, and SIA forgets her lyrics, and Ariana Grande performs without a live band. Yes... I know.. most of you don't care about these pop stars, but let us not forget that The Beatles were a pop band, Michael Jackson and Prince were at the top of the pop charts, etc.etc.etc. Having active involvement in your cultural industry WILL make it better.
When I was younger, I could spend hours listening to my favorite albums. I would actively search the local papers for my favorite bands and go see them live. I would tune into public radio stations and listen to the late night schedule in search for something that wasn't on mainstream radio. I would chat with my friends about what they're listening to. I would go to see my friends' bands and stay to watch the other bands perform. And you know what.. I still do those things! I'v added to that list saving playlists on Spotify when I find new music, searching Youtube for videos of new bands, following NPR's Tiny Desk Concert contest and LIVE from KEXP and so many of the performances from PBS ( Austin City Limits and Live From Lincoln Center). THERE IS SO MUCH AMAZING MUSIC OUT THERE! It is so wonderful finding unbelievable true talent. Great music is out there!!!!
If you want better politicians, vote. If you want more organic foods in your local grocery store, change where you shop. If you want better music in your life, FIND and LISTEN to better music! If you want anything to change, STAY ACTIVE!!!!! Be conscious of every choice you make in your daily lives. Do not allow sub par anything to be present. We deserve better.
Please tell me how you are. It's been a while. Find your passion and find ways do it everyday!!!
Movin on up,
Chrissy Morgan

So I joined the masses of NPR listeners and Lagunita's drinkers and tiny desk owners and non contract musicians. I performed my original song acapella last year. So happy to have Susie Woodman and Darryl Pierce joining me this time around. Who knows what happens with the final contest results. I do know it inspired me to get off my bum and get going on more original tunes that I'v had stored for years. Click the pic to see the video, then start searching for others!!
